The Ten Rituals of Radiant Living

These ten rituals should be carried on each day. The results begin to show within a month
  1. Ritual of Solitude- Spend a few minutes in complete silence each day. At least 15 minutes. Preferably early in the morning and at the same time every day.
  2. Ritual of Physicality- Dedicate 5 hours a week in some form of physical exercise viz. yoga, strength training etc.
  3. Ritual of Live Nourishment- Have some amount of live food daily. Have at least a bowl of salad and some fruits and dry fruits daily.
  4. Ritual of Abundant Knowledge- Spend 30 minutes daily in reading some good material that can affect or change your life in a positive manner.
  5. Ritual of Personal Reflection- Every day (preferably at night when you have been through a day) spend some time in personal reflection. Reflect on the day that has been. What went through the day and how you could have utilized your day to make yourself better.
  6. Ritual of Early Awakening- Make it a habit to wake up with the sun. Try to hit the bed early so that you get enough sleep and are ready to go through the day with a relaxed mind. Getting up early would also mean that you have more time in hand during the day.
  7. Ritual of Music- Listen to some form of soothing music everyday.Something that you enjoy and that calms you down.
  8. Ritual of the Spoken Word- Recite some form of mantra daily. This would help you become a better person. Do some positive self- talk and pep yourself up.
  9. Ritual of a Congruent Character- Make an attempt everyday to strengthen and better your character and that can start by transforming your habit and exercising more control over yourself.
  10. Ritual of Simplicity- Make your life simple. Reduce your needs.
  11. Ritual of Pursuing Hobby- Every day spend some time on your hobby. This will calm you down and make you happy. It will make you proficient in that field.

                      xxxxxxxxxxxx
               xxxxxxxxxxxx

Lincoln to His Son's Teacher

He will have to learn, I know,
that all men are not just,
all men are not true.

But teach him also that
for every scoundrel there is a hero;
that for every selfish politician,
there is a dedicated leader…
Teach him that for every enemy
there is a friend,

Steer him away from envy,

if you can,
teach him the secret of
quiet laughter.

Let him learn early that

the bullies are the easiest to lick…
Teach him, if you can,
the wonder of books…
But also give him quiet time
to ponder the eternal mystery of birds in the sky,
bees in the sun,
and the flowers on a green hillside.

In the school teach him

it is far honourable to fail
than to cheat…
Teach him to have faith
in his own ideas,
even if everyone tells him
they are wrong…
Teach him to be gentle
with gentle people,
and tough with the tough.

 Try to give my son

the strength not to follow the crowd
when everyone is getting on the band wagon
Teach him to listen to all men
but teach him also to filter
all he hears on a screen of truth,
and take only the good
that comes through.

Teach him if you can,

how to laugh when he is sad
Teach him there is no shame in tears,
Teach him to scoff at cynics
and to beware of too much sweetness.
Teach him to sell his brawn
and brain to the highest bidders
but never to put a price-tag
on his heart and soul.

Teach him to close his ears

to a howling mob
and to stand and fight
if he thinks he’s right.
Treat him gently,
but do not cuddle him,
because only the test
of fire makes fine steel.

Let him have the courage

to be impatient…
let him have the patience to be brave.
Teach him always
to have sublime faith in himself,
because then he will have
sublime faith in mankind.

This is a big order,

but see what you can do…
He is such a fine little fellow,
my son!

Happy!

When I was 5 years old,my mom always told me that
happiness was the key to life.

When I went to school, they
asked me what I wanted to be
when I grew up.

I wrote down "Happy".
They told me I din't understand the assignment.
I told them that they din't understand life.
